Jay Slyce, b. 2001, Hackney, London. Lives and works in Hackney.
Painting forgives itself for a second day. The event that has existed and therefore belongs to a time that is unchangeable in event, however longs to be looked out. The images that I paint are both entirely through my hand, my experience and my arrival at this point however through their material nature and form surrender to a collective natural history. A harmony therefore exists between the individual collecting-painting of images and the universal experience of seeing. The produced objects or images, work, aren’t suggestions in a reminiscent way of another, instead they are all. Painting by an artist’s hand. The work leaves an alienated relation of object to the universe, or even art to the object through materialisation, hence all is material and therefore has its own language and matter that thinks- you’re it as it is you, experience and matter.
